My attempt in acrylics of a famous self portrait by Vincent van Gogh,
it was so much fun to do but I'm not going to go mad,
or cut off one of my ears!

The Toilette ..........

Thought I'd have a go at Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's "The Toilette" but I quite liked it without the clutter of the room in the background!

The Big Splash ..........

Think my attempt at David Hockney's "The Big Splash" has turned out quite well.
Anyway it was such a challenge, but great fun too

The Yellow Christ ..........

My version in acrylics of a famous painting by Paul Gauguain

Poppy Love ..........

Little poppies, little hell flames,

Do you do no harm?

You flicker. I cannot touch you.
I put my hands among the flames. Nothing burns

Red Red Rose ....

Acrylic on canvas 38cm x 46cm

O, my love is like a red, red rose,
That is newly sprung in June.
O, my love is like the melody,
That is sweetly played in tune.

As fair are you, my lovely lass,
So deep in love am I,
And I will love you still, my Dear,
Till all the seas go dry.

Till all the seas go dry, my Dear,
And the rocks melt with the sun!
O I will love you still, my Dear,
While the sands of life shall run.

And fare you well, my only Love,
And fare you well a while!
And I will come again, my Love,
Although it were ten thousand mile!

Blue Flag Iris .....

Acrylic on canvas faced board 33cm x 41cm

What is it about irises
in the garden
whether blue flag or yellow,
deep purple, white with red
why do they catch the attention, the imagination
more than lesser blooms?
A certain allure
that Georgia O’Keeffe didn’t taint
a beauty that draws you in
to ponder and marvel on
a delicacy that is real
but a perennial that wears well
the seasons in England too
bitter cold and short summers
a herald for the Spring
whether in bog or flower bed

Sunflower .....

Acrylic on canvas 38cm x 46cm

I see you there in glory shining bright,
Following the sun and its path of light.
Standing tall above all others in the field,
You grow, conquer, and do not yield.

Yellow Flag Iris .....

Acrylic on canvas 38cm x 46cm

Yellow velvet robe
soothes, beckons
and warms the soul

Red and Yellow Stargazer .....

Acrylic on canvas 38cm x 46cm

Every second, I am a stargazer
Every minute, I am a stargazer
Every hour, I am a stargazer
Every day, I am a stargazer

Chrysanthemum .....

Acrylic on canvas 38cm x 46cm

The rose is called the queen of flowers,
Surrounded by her sisters fair,
A lovely throng of beauties rare,
She holds her court 'mid summer bowers,
'Neath smiling skies of sunny blue,
Gayly they bloom the summer through
Brightening all the golden hours.
But when the autumn days have come
Then blooms our sweet Chrysanthemum.
